Leadership Team Meeting Notes 5/4/19

 

  • Prayer
    • Lead by Fr. Maximo
    • Awesome music by Dan-Vy
    • Theme: the purpose of man is for the praise of His glory
      • Quantitative: think of all the qualities of God that you can
      • Qualitative: focus on one aspect of God and reflect upon it
  • What is a value? What is Culture?
    • Something that is considered, “good”
    • The culture of a place is expressed in many different ways
      • What we value, we express in various forms
      • We defend and pass on these values within our culture
    • Humans express themselves in many different ways, whether we are conscious of it or not
      • We express ourselves in art, politics, the way we speak, in music, in the way we dress
      • Everything reflects our culture or subculture
    • Humans are an intersection of culture (belong to many different cultures)
    • Culture doesn’t just affect us, we affect and transmit culture as well
      • As a result, our culture can change over time
      • You don’t learn culture in a classroom, it is simply lived out
      • It is more often the things that go unsaid
    • Every parish has a culture
      • We want to foster certain culture
    • We want to foster optimism
      • Not just positive thinking
      • Rooted in faith
      • Optimism is in the resurrected Christ (He won!)
        • This is the source of our optimism
        • Not, “everything is going to be alright,” but rather, “everything already is right; Jesus conquered”
      • Transmit value of optimization with the phrase: “evangelization is possible”
  • Confession
    • During holy week was very successful
    • Suggestions for improvement
      • Elderly be rushed to the front
      • Kids be rushed to the front
      • Lines were a little confusing
        • Ushers might be helpful
      • Ask people to be concise so it doesn’t take as long
        • No heavy counseling from priests?
      • Bring chairs once there are less people
        • (Doing it before would make it too cluttered)
  • Holy Week
    • Bilingual
      • Worked really well
      • Helpful to have the language not being read on the screen
  • Parish Welcome
    • Difficult to get people to come
  • Divine Mercy Sunday
    • Adoration went extremely well
  • Corpus Christi
    • June 23rd
    • First Communion on this day
    • Two different processions with Eucharist
      • After 9am Mass (English)
        • Can go to procession either after 9am Mass or before 11am Mass
      • And after 1pm Mass (Spanish)
      • Go around the block
        • Stop 3 times at different corners
