Children’s Religious Education

Mission Statement

CRS_7650 copyAt St. Mary, our mission is to assist you as Catholic parents in fulfilling the promises you made at your children’s Baptism, as primary educators in your children’s lives. At baptism, you and your spouse accepted the obligation to nurture your children in the Catholic faith and to help prepare and participate in the Sacramental life of the Church.

To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it. — Blessed Teresa of Calcutta

Together with you as parents, we wish to partner in the spiritual growth of the children in our Parish. Our goal is to help draw families into a deeper and more meaningful spiritual relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Our Religious Education Program

Jesus says in the scriptures, “Let the little children come to me” (Matthew 19:14 ). We at St. Mary encourage you to enroll your children in our Religious Education programs, to attend Holy Mass each week, to pray in the Adoration chapel and before the Tabernacle often, and to pray the rosary daily as a family. These practices help nurture and strengthen your and your children’s spiritual growth.

St. Mary’s Parish Religious Education program are designed to assist you with the sacred responsibility of educating your children in the Catholic faith. Our parish offers both formal classroom instruction for children and a parents’ program of religious instruction in both English and Spanish.

Cathechesis of the Good Shepherd K-3

This catechesis is based on the child’s deep need to experience and to enjoy the presence of God. Children cultivate their relationship with God in the Atrium classroom of the school building, in which every object is a help to knowing God. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd meets on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. For information,  contact Lauren Sanders at (541) 760-8191

We look forward to working with you and your family to ensure that your children grow in the Catholic faith through learning in a supportive and welcoming environment.
